The reference at a glance.
Every collection should hold a few things that are simply a pleasure. This is one of them. Depancel is a small French house that builds motorsport-minded watches, and the Allure Mono Eye is its chronograph. Mint Green is the version that made us stop. A 39mm steel case, 45.8mm lug to lug, 11.5mm thick, so it tucks under a cuff. Behind the K1 hardened mineral crystal sits a sector dial: a mint green outer ring carrying applied indices, a circular-brushed black centre holding the pulsometer scale, and the tachymeter moved out to a brushed black rehaut, the way a racing instrument should read. Printed along the top, in plain capitals: MOTOR RACING INSTRUMENT. Mono Eye is the layout. One sub-counter, sixty minutes, set at nine o'clock across the joint between the two sectors. Nothing wasted and nothing added for decoration.

A reason to look again.
Why this watch matters
Movement: meca-quartz is the honest choice for a working chronograph at this price, and it feels mechanical at the pusher. Rarity: none claimed and none implied. This is a production piece.
Mono Eye is the layout. One sub-counter, sixty minutes, set at nine o'clock across the joint between the two sectors. Nothing wasted and nothing added for decoration. The movement is a TMI VK64 meca-quartz. Quartz keeps the time; a mechanical module runs the chronograph. You get the snap of a mechanical pusher and an instant zero return, with quartz accuracy underneath. For a watch you will actually use to measure something, that is the correct answer. Each example carries a numbered steel plate screwed to the flank of the case, a quiet nod to the rally plates of the 1960s and 70s. Imagined and assembled in France. Five-year warranty. This is not an heirloom and we will not pretend otherwise. It is a small, well-made pleasure at a friendly price, and it belongs in a collection the way a good pair of driving gloves belongs in a car.
